Enve expands its PRO range with the new SES 6.7

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

During our last press camp with the North American company, we tested the new Enve Melee v2 and were lucky enough to see firsthand the new road wheels from their professional-athlete range: the Enve SES 6.7 PRO. After the success of the 4.5 model, they are now launching a version with a higher rim to take aerodynamics to another level.

This new model has a carbon rim with an internal width of 22.5 mm and a profile of 59 mm for the front wheel and 65 mm for the rear. They come with the Enve Innerdrive PRO hubs and ceramic bearings. The wheels are aerodynamically optimized for 28 mm, although other measurements are possible; of course, always with tubeless tires. The pair weighs 1,495 g, which we consider a very well-achieved weight given their large profile.

In developing the PRO version of the Enve Innerdrive hubs, they improved on the Premium model, making them even lighter (60 g less) and adding better bearings (now ceramic) and a higher-quality ratchet.

Those crazy about cycling and, especially, about the components, would surely have already identified that Tadej Pogačar had been using this set of wheels in some of the most important races and/or stages of this season, even though it had not been presented by the brand, and that with them he has achieved great results. For Enve, as for most brands in the WorldTour, working side by side with top-level riders is key to developing its products. For the North American company and its close collaboration with the UAE Team Emirates XRG team, there could be no better combination.

Far from comparing our comments with those of one of the best cyclists in history, we had the opportunity to test the new SES 6.7 PRO, and it pleasantly surprised us. On the one hand, we expected rigid wheels, very reactive and somewhat less manageable than those of the 4.5. However, on both climbs and descents, we were positively struck by their response. Although they are clearly not climbing wheels, their extra weight in comparison with the 4.5 does not affect the bicycle’s maneuverability on ascents. And when it comes to descending, the poise they bring is surprising; at all times we feel very comfortable, and the smaller front-wheel profile also adds extra security in side wind. If we talk about acceleration and compare it with its 4.5 version, the new 6.7 plays in another league.
