De norte a sur o de este a oeste, los parajes cambian radicalmente debido a la meteorolog\u00eda y la orograf\u00eda del terreno. Siendo un territorio no muy extenso, una buena manera de conocer los secretos que esconde podr\u00eda ser en bicicleta. Si adem\u00e1s tenemos el tiempo justo y nos gustan los retos, una opci\u00f3n ser\u00eda participar en alguno de los eventos de ciclismo de ultradistancia sin asistencia organizados por <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transiberica.cc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TransIb\u00e9rica Ultracycling<\/a>. Se puso en contacto con David Rodr\u00edguez y se empez\u00f3 a cocer lo que se transformar\u00eda en la primera carrera de ultraciclismo de la pen\u00ednsula. En sus or\u00edgenes, las carreras de ciclismo eran m\u00e1s o menos libres, con etapas de m\u00e1s de 400 km, sin coches de equipo, parando en los pueblos, y cada uno deb\u00eda gestionarse. Este es el esp\u00edritu que quer\u00edan transmitir.<\/p>\n<p>Al a\u00f1o siguiente, en 2019, a\u00f1adieron una nueva carrera m\u00e1s corta y asequible con itinerario fijado, la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transiberica.cc\/transpyrenees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TransPyrenees<\/a>, desde el Mediterraneo al Atl\u00e1ntico por los Pirineos. Este a\u00f1o, en 2020, atra\u00eddos por el movimiento a\u00fan m\u00e1s aventurero off-road tendr\u00e1 lugar la primera carrera gravel por pistas de tierra y gravilla. Distancia aproximada de 3.500 km saliendo y volviendo de Bilbao y pasando por varios checkpoints (4 en 2018, 8 en 2019 y 12 en 2020).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Siendo Carlos y David espa\u00f1oles, y habiendo viajado por todo el pa\u00eds, los dos sab\u00edan c\u00f3mo distribuir los puntos de control para ofrecer un buen espect\u00e1culo. Al ser un circuito abierto era esencial repartir los puntos de manera correcta para ofrecer una ruta por las mejores carreteras y parajes del entorno. Al gestionar tu propio recorrido puedes llegar a hacer muchos kil\u00f3metros extra entre puntos de control. A veces las carreteras generales son m\u00e1s r\u00e1pidas, pero poniendo m\u00e1s puntos y segmentos, y que est\u00e9n en zonas m\u00e1s espec\u00edficas, aseguras que se disfrute del viaje y evitas imprudencias o ilegalidades como circular por autopistas. La primera edici\u00f3n cont\u00f3 con solo 8 participantes, pero al a\u00f1o siguiente ya eran m\u00e1s de 30, y este a\u00f1o alrededor de 20, perjudicados por la situaci\u00f3n Distancia aproximada de 1.000 km y 25.000 m de desnivel desde Llan\u00e7\u00e0 a San Sebasti\u00e1n.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>El \u00e9xito de la primera TransIb\u00e9rica motiv\u00f3 a Carlos y David a organizar una carrera m\u00e1s asequible que sirviera como introducci\u00f3n al ciclismo de ultradistancia sin asistencia. As\u00ed el a\u00f1o pasado se organiz\u00f3 la primera edici\u00f3n de la TransPyrenees, en la que participaron m\u00e1s de 80 participantes. La ruta sal\u00eda de Llan\u00e7\u00e0 (mar mediterraneo) y llegaba a San Sebasti\u00e1n (oc\u00e9ano atl\u00e0ntico), con un recorrido fijado que los ciclistas deb\u00edan completar en un m\u00e1ximo de 6 d\u00edas. Algunos corredores del norte de Europa esperaban m\u00e1s calor, pero la ruta transcurre por el norte de los Pirineos, donde suele llover. Quiz\u00e1s un chubasquero a\u00f1adir\u00eda peso pero tambien comfort. Lo bueno de esta carrera es que al haber puertos, estos actuaban de metas parciales. De este modo, siempre sab\u00edas donde estabas y que te faltaba, haciendo la carrera m\u00e1s llevadera y siendo el Tourmalet la subida m\u00e1s larga. Si lo piensas, la mitad de la ruta era bajada. Como a\u00f1adido, se introdujo la categor\u00eda de parejas, que siempre motiva m\u00e1s a esos que no se sienten seguros yendo solos y permite acercar este mundo a un p\u00fablico m\u00e1s amplio. Distancia aproximada de 700 km y 15.000 m de desnivel saliendo de Granada por el sur-este de la pen\u00ednsula.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Para expandir los horizontes del ultraciclismo, y con el boom actual del gravel, este a\u00f1o se ha organizado la primera Badlands. La idea era organizar algo una carrera un poco diferente e introducir el gravel en la pen\u00ednsula. De momento es la carrera que m\u00e1s \u00e9xito ha tenido, con m\u00e1s de 160 inscritos a\u00fan el estado de alarma mundial. El nombre viene dado por los lugares en los que transcurre el recorrido, el cual es fijo y circular. Estos son sitios des\u00e9rticos y \u00e1ridos, como Tabernas, el punto m\u00e1s c\u00e1lido de la pen\u00ednsula, o el Cabo de Gata, el \u00fanico desierto de Europa. Adem\u00e1s, se espera una gran inversi\u00f3n t\u00e9rmica, pasando por el pico Veleta a casi 3.400 m sobre el nivel del mal, lo que dar\u00e1 un contraste de sequedad y verde pasando por sitios como vergeles. Algunos consejos son mirar bien donde dormir y llevar agua, ya que se pasan pocos pueblos. Har\u00e1 calor de modo que mejor no desaprovechar ninguna fuente. Para 2021 ya se est\u00e1n planteando un nuevo recorrido el cual ser\u00e1 un poco diferente, m\u00e1s alternativo y exigente.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style type=\"text\/css\">\n\t\t\t#gallery-5 \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<h3>Organizaci\u00f3n<\/h3>\n<p>Aunque sean carreras de autosuficiencia, en las que no hay metas parciales con avituallamientos, la organizaci\u00f3n en estos eventos es fundamental. Algunas partes del trabajo son el dise\u00f1o del recorrido y evento, la promoci\u00f3n de la carrera, el contacto v\u00eda email con los participantes, el briefing antes de la carrera o la meta de salida y llegada. Por ejemplo, este a\u00f1o Carlos ir\u00e1 por tercera vez hasta Andaluc\u00eda para revisar el terreno, y tambi\u00e9n realizar\u00e1 el recorrido de la TransPyrenees para poder avisar de alg\u00fan contratiempo antes del dia de salida. Cada evento tiene su equipo de fotograf\u00eda y\/o video detr\u00e1s, con lo que se necesita un presupuesto. Para la Badlands, ir\u00e1n con todoterreno y fot\u00f3grafo, con lo que conseguir\u00e1n instant\u00e1neas incre\u00edbles. Quiz\u00e1s con el precio de la inscripci\u00f3n no entreguen un maillot o un bid\u00f3n, pero si un welcome-pack con la gorra, y todo el servicio de preparaci\u00f3n y atenci\u00f3n que hay detr\u00e1s. Como medida extraordinaria, a parte del formulario de responsabilidad civil, este a\u00f1o se deber\u00e1 avisar a la organizaci\u00f3n 14 d\u00edas antes y despu\u00e9s del evento si cualquiera de los participantes tiene alg\u00fan s\u00edntoma del COVID-19, adem\u00e1s de respetar las medidas de higiene durante la carrera.<\/p>\n<h3>An\u00e9cdotas<\/h3>\n<p>En eventos de este tipo pueden pasar mil y una aventuras, tantos d\u00edas fuera de casa, llevando el cuerpo al l\u00edmite, y pasando por sitios nuevos dan mucho juego. Entre otras historietas, Carlos nos comentaba como Ulrich Bartholm\u00f6s, el ganador de la TransIb\u00e9rica 2019, compr\u00f3 un anillo en Algarve (Portugal) para su chica y se lo entreg\u00f3 en la meta de Bilbao pidi\u00e9ndole matrimonio. Ella acept\u00f3 encantada. Ese mismo a\u00f1o el segundo y tercer clasificados llegaron a 3 minutos de diferencia, algo impensable en eventos tan largos, el hecho de pararse en un sem\u00e1foro o de tomar un caf\u00e9. Pero lo importante no es la posici\u00f3n sino disfrutar de la experiencia y el camino. Tambi\u00e9n, varios corredores se encontraron a una cicloturista danesa, a quien acabaron tomando fotos y fue un punto de referencia en movimiento. En Portugal, a un corredor le mordi\u00f3 un perro. Para ponerse la antitet\u00e1nica tuvo que ir a dos pueblos distintos y al final coger ambulancia. De causalidad, le atendi\u00f3 un m\u00e9dico que conoc\u00eda la carrera y lo llev\u00f3 de vuelta al punto donde hab\u00eda dejado el recorrido en ambulancia. Otros rompen ruedas o quiz\u00e1s se quedan dormidos en la bicicleta, pero cada uno participa como quiere. A uno de los participantes solo le importaba disfrutar y llegar dentro de tiempo. Al llegar a Bilbao, se fue a dormir a su casa, y al d\u00eda siguiente lleg\u00f3 a meta.
